LUX: BEGINNINGS & LUX: CONSEQUENCES by Jennifer L. Armentrout New Bind-up Covers

Lux: Beginnings (Obsidian & Onyx) and Lux: Consequences (Opal & Origin) will both be releasing on June 3, 2014.

Lux: Beginnings (Obsidian & Onyx) official Blurb:

Obsidian
There's an alien next door. And with his looming height and eerie green eyes, he's hot...until he opens his mouth. He's infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, he lights me up with a big fat bulls-eye. Turns out he has a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal his abilities and the only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to him until my alien mojo fades. If I don’t kill him first, that is.
Onyx
Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro alien connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems. I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

Lux: Consequences (Opal & Origin) official blurb:

Opal
After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing alien hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.
Origin
Daemon will do anything to get Katy back. After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on? And will they even be together?

Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn

Hardcover272 pages
Published September 26th 2006 by Shaye Areheart Books

WICKED above her hipbone, GIRL across her heart
Words are like a road map to reporter Camille Preaker’s troubled past. Fresh from a brief stay at a psych hospital, Camille’s first assignment from the second-rate daily paper where she works brings her reluctantly back to her hometown to cover the murders of two preteen girls.

NASTY on her kneecap, BABYDOLL on her leg
Since she left town eight years ago, Camille has hardly spoken to her neurotic, hypochondriac mother or to the half-sister she barely knows: a beautiful thirteen-year-old with an eerie grip on the town. Now, installed again in her family’s Victorian mansion, Camille is haunted by the childhood tragedy she has spent her whole life trying to cut from her memory.

HARMFUL on her wrist, WHORE on her ankle
As Camille works to uncover the truth about these violent crimes, she finds herself identifying with the young victims—a bit too strongly. Clues keep leading to dead ends, forcing Camille to unravel the psychological puzzle of her own past to get at the story. Dogged by her own demons, Camille will have to confront what happened to her years before if she wants to survive this homecoming.

With its taut, crafted writing, Sharp Objects is addictive, haunting, and unforgettable.

Ive heard nothing but great things about Carlos Ruiz Zafón's writing. The plot involves books, fantasy, history and even mystery. Sounds right up my alley. I think I may pick it up next, while I'm waiting this summer for The Book of Life by Deborah Harkness to come out in July.

A mysterious house harbors an unimaginable secret. . . .

It’s wartime, and the Carver family decides to leave the capital where they live and move to a small coastal village where they’ve recently bought a home. But from the minute they cross the threshold, strange things begin to happen. In that mysterious house there still lurks the spirit of Jacob, the previous owners’ son, who died by drowning.

With the help of their new friend Roland, Max and Alicia Carver begin to explore the suspicious circumstances of that death and discover the existence of a mysterious being called The Prince of Mist—a diabolical character who has returned from the shadows to collect on a debt from the past. Soon the three friends find themselves caught up in an adventure of sunken ships and an enchanted stone garden, which will change their lives forever.

Blog Tour - IF ONLY by A.J. Pine - Giveaway + Playlist

Title: IF ONLY
Author: A.J. Pine
Publisher: Entangled Embrace
Pub. Date: March 24, 2014
Pages: 342

Sometimes it takes crossing an ocean to figure out where you belong.

It's been two years since twenty-year-old Jordan had a boyfriend—which means it's been forever since she, well, you know. But now she’s off to spend her junior year in Aberdeen, Scotland, the perfect place to stop waiting for Mr. Right and just enjoy Mr. Right Now.

Sexy, sweet (and possible player) Griffin may be her perfect, no-strings-attached match. He’s fun, gorgeous, and makes her laugh. So why can’t she stop thinking about Noah who, minutes after being trapped together outside the train’s loo, kisses Jordan like she’s never been kissed before? Never mind his impossible blue eyes, his weathered, annotated copy of The Great Gatsby (total English-major porn)…oh, and his girlfriend.

Jordan knows everything this year has an expiration date. Aberdeen is supposed to be about fun rather than waiting for life to happen. But E. M. Forster, Shakespeare, and mistletoe on Valentine’s Day make her reconsider what love is and how far she’s willing to go for the right guy.

About A.J.:
AJ writes stories to break readers’ hearts, but don’t worry—she’ll mend those hearts with a happily ever after…maybe. The first book she wrote was YA, but now she’s two-timing her first love Pine4BWwith NA. She’s always in the middle of reading two to three books, adores online shopping (everything from groceries to shoes), and she still loves vampires, whether it’s Eric Northman or the Salvatore brothers. When she’s not writing, AJ is sneaking off to her day job as a high school English teacher or hanging with her husband and kids in the Chicago burbs.

AJ’s debut NA novel, IF ONLY, releases with Entangled’s Embrace line on March 24!

Thanks so much for celebrating IF ONLY’s release with me! I’m so excited you asked for a playlist because that means I get to be all nostalgic about my favorite 90s British bands!

So, much like Jordan did, I spent my junior year of college in Aberdeen, Scotland. I fell in love with British pop music when I was there, spending as much time as I could in Virgin Megastore adding to my constantly growing CD collection. Yeah, this was the mid 90s, so no iTunes or Spotify or anything like that. I left a lot of clothes behind in Aberdeen when I had to pack up to come home just to make room for the extra music!

So, in honor of the New Year’s Eve scene in IF ONLY where the bar Jordan is at is playing some throwback 90s Brit Pop, here is my IF ONLY inspired playlist. Click HERE to take a listen over on Spotify!

1. “Parklife” by Blur—I was (and still am) so in love with lead singer, Damon Albarn. If you don’t know him from Blur, you definitely know him from Gorillaz. I’ve seen Blur in concert in England and Illinois.

2. “I Am The Resurrection” by The Stone Roses—Biggest disappointment was that I missed out on seeing The Stone Roses at the Glastonbury Music Festival when I was in England because they had to pull out at the last minute due to a band member being injured.

3. “Common People” by Pulp—This song reminds me of one of my roommates from Aberdeen who made me go out dancing every Monday night at a place called the Mudd Club. Made Tuesday morning classes rough. LOL.

4. “Connection” by Elastica—This song actually gets a little mention in the book, I think in that New Year’s Eve scene.

5. “Cigarettes and Alcohol” by Oasis—I was a huge Oasis fan for many years after living in the UK. Saw them in concert in the UK as well as in the states.

6. “Vegas” by Sleeper—It’s so weird hearing this song because I can remember being at my friend’s school in Warwick, England, listening to this in her dorm room. In 1995!

7. “Down by the Water” by PJ Harvey—This song was an earworm creator then, and it still is now. Haha.

8. “Your Song” by Ewan McGregor on the Moulin Rouge Soundtrack—No, this is not 90s Brit pop, but it’s Ewan McGregor, my Scottish spirit animal, and he can make me Claire Danes ugly cry with his voice in this movie!
