Chasing River Quote Card 2
About CHASING RIVER: Armed with two years' worth of savings and the need to experience life outside the bubble of her Oregon small town, twenty-five-year old Amber Welles is prepared for anything. Except dying in Dublin. Had it not been for the bravery of a stranger, she might have. But he takes off before she has the chance to offer her gratitude.

Twenty-four-year-old River Delaney is rattled. No one was supposed to get hurt. But then that American tourist showed up. He couldn't let her die, but he also couldn’t risk being identified at the scene—so, he ran. Back to his everyday life of running his family’s pub. Only, everyday life is getting more and more complicated, thanks to his brother, Aengus, and his criminal associations. When the American girl tracks River down, he quickly realizes how much he likes her, how wrong she is for him. And how dangerous it is to have her around. Chasing her off would be the smart move.

Maybe it's because he saved her life, or maybe it's because he's completely different from everything she's left behind, but Amber finds herself chasing after River Delaney. Amber isn’t the kind of girl to chase after anyone.

And River isn't the kind of guy she'd want to catch.

I have to start out by saying that this is absolutely my favorite of the series, and possibly my favorite book by Tucker. There was such an easiness and an amazing flow to the story. I don't even know if I'm describing it right, but it just seemed effortless.

To begin with, the author does a fantastic job at taking us on a journey to Ireland. I have always wanted to go to Ireland and read many books set in Ireland as I was growing up. There is such beauty in the land, but also in the rich history.

Amber was first introduced in Burying Water, but even as Jesse's sister, she didn't really play a main role. It was so great to get better acquainted with her throughout the course of this book.

Amber has lived a rather sheltered life as the daughter of the sheriff and one of the top surgeons in her small town in Oregon. Looking to finally stand on her own two feet while spreading her wings, Amber takes a trip to Ireland. Her trip is turned upside down when her life is saved by the man who seemingly put it in danger in the first place.

River knows that his connections have already put Amber in danger once, and while he should stay away from her, he can't seem to escape her. Eventually he  figures maybe he could keep an eye on her better by keeping her close to him.

River is the very last person that Amber's family would want her with. Maybe that is part of the allure, but whatever it is, Amber is definitely attracted to the mysterious barkeeper.
"I don't know what I need, but the way he just held me gave me a taste of what I definitely want."
Amber went to Ireland looking to experience life. She never expected these experiences to change her deep down the way they did. She also never expected to find love.

5 out of 5 stars

Matt Wertz -What I Know Right Now

I had a different song picked out, but when I heard this one, I just knew that I had to add it to this review. The way he speaks of regret, and that sometimes we have to go down the crooked path to get to where we need to be. It just seemed like a perfect match for River.
