This was a fantastic office romance (think Fifty Shades without the spanking and Beautiful Bastard without the expensive lingerie).

Despite a rough childhood and the absolutely heartbreaking way that he lost both of his parents at a young age, Caine Calloway overcame it all to be one of the most successful businessmen in Boston. He's ruthless and sharp, and also incredibly handsome.

Alexa Holland had always idolized her father until his lies and manipulations caught up to him and ruined the lives of everyone around him, including a young man by the name of Caine Calloway.

Shortly after the death of her mother, Alexa runs into Caine at a photoshoot and her nervousness causes her to confess who she is and who her father is.  Caine, being the ruthless bastard that he is, ends the photoshoot and ruins Alexa's career all in one move.

Still determined to make amends for her father's mistakes, Alexa makes a visit to Calloway's office to offer an apology. Caine is still unable to forgive what was done to him, but he does make Alexa an offer.  She can come work in his company as his personal assistant.  Unfortunately, Alexa realizes too late that Caine sees it as an opportunity to take her father's sins out on her.

I am a HUGE fan of Samantha Young and her On Dublin Street series.  I was excited to see what she would do with new characters and a new world and I was NOT disappointed.  Caine and Alexa's relationship was explosive and vibrant.  They hated each other, but couldn't deny the powerful physical attraction between them.  The characters were well developed and the scenarios were just so perfect.  It was sewn together with an underpinning of repentance and forgiveness.  I was thoroughly entertained.

Why is it not 5 stars?  For me, the ended lasted a little longer than I felt it needed to.  But that is just me and sometimes I'm weird.

Recommended for any and all who love alpha males and romance.

4.25 out of 5 stars
