Will his call of duty break both their hearts?
Losing her father in Desert Storm has left Stephanie James with a bitter soul when it comes to the military. As a college senior juggling a full course load, Steph's only goal is to graduate with honors at the end of the semester. She’s focused, determined, and a firm believer in all work and no play. Then she meets Brandon Walker at a New Year’s Eve costume party. Despite his disguise, Steph finds herself attracted to the camouflaged soldier who curls her toes with a scorching midnight kiss.
Brandon is an engineering major and ROTC student from the hills of Kentucky. Growing up as the son of a major general has given Brandon firsthand knowledge of the struggles military families sometimes face. Now that his father’s memory is fading, Brandon is even more determined to make his dad proud and graduate as an officer in the United States Army. Then he meets Stephanie, and suddenly, his focus is less on his military service and more on the pretty brunette who has stolen his heart. When he becomes aware of Steph’s resentment toward the military, he worries their relationship is doomed.

Let me start out by saying that I've been a fan of Sydney Logan's for years! Before she was even published! So when I got asked to read the ARC for her upcoming book, Soldier On, I jumped on it!! I knew it would be amazing, and I was not disappointed!!
Soldier On is about a girl, Stephanie "Steph" James who has a huge chip on her shoulder in the form of the Military. Her father died during the Gulf War before she was born, so she has a problem with the thing that took away her chance at knowing him. She's always vowed that she would never love a soldier. That is until Brandon Walker walks into her life.
Brandon Walker is a second generation Army soldier. He wants to finish the semester, graduate then head off to training in Georgia. When he meets Steph at a NYE costume party, he falls instantly.
After meeting back up weeks later in class, they start to hang out and get to know each other. The connection between them getting stronger. Brandon embraces and pursues it, while Steph tries to keep him at arms length. She's determined to get prefect grade and graduate in May so she can start her teaching career.
Yeah....keeping him at arms length doesn't happen.
She falls, all while Brandon knowingly keeps the huge secret from her that he's in the Army. That he's a soldier.
This book is funny, heartwarming, and will make you want to go back to college just to meet your very own Brandon! I loved everything about him! He was sweet, funny and extremely persistent in trying to get Steph to break the "rules" she established for them.
You'll even fall in love with the secondary characters! I thought -by the way Brandon explained him- that I wouldn't like his father AT ALL! I was wrong. He wasn't as bad as I thought he would be. He was actually adorable. My favorite secondary character, by far was a small one...he was a blind veteran that Brandon would visit at the nursing home.
All of these things, the main characters, the secondary characters, the little things, it makes this book the amazing read it is! I will definitely recommend it, and give it high praise whenever I can.
