Synopsis:
From the New York Times bestselling author of Rumor Has Itand the Lucky Harbor series comes the story of a woman whose world is turned upside down by one night's torrid fling...

Veterinary intern Emily can’t believe she wound up in the small town of Sunshine, Idaho, instead of the Los Angeles clinic she had always imagined. Now she has to put her plans to move to L.A. on hold for a whole year while she fulfills the obligation of her vet school scholarship.

Then Wyatt, her gorgeous one-night stand from a Reno vet conference, introduces himself as her new boss. And Emily is just as drawn to his seductive looks and quiet strength as she was on that very steamy night. She soon learns that Wyatt isn’t just a laid-back doctor, but a delicious alpha male tempting her away from her carefully laid-out plans...

New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis lives in a small town in the Sierras with her family and far too many assorted quirky characters. Any resemblance to the quirky characters in her books is, um, mostly coincidental.

Jill Shalvis has definitely become my go-to gal for sweet and sexy romance.  Her heroines always have a little hint of the ridiculous or awkward that I can sooo identify with.  Her male leads never fail to make my knees weak.

Emily begins her internship at an animal clinic in Sunshine, Idaho after unknowingly sleeping with her new boss.  Her plans were to intern in L.A., and never dreamed she could enjoy life in a small town.  Now she must find a way to deny her attraction and forget the feelings that Wyatt Stone stirred up in her after only one night.

Wyatt has been hurt in the past.  When a fabulously sexy night follows him to work, Wyatt tries to remain professional.  The last thing he wants to is be rejected once again.

Shalvis has created a safe haven for animals and hurting people called Belle Haven.  The staff there is sexy and kind.  The patients are quirky and sweet.  I'm looking forward to scheduling my next visit.

4 out of 5 stars

My favorite quote from the book reminded me of some great lyrics.

Life's for the Living by Passenger
Don’t you cry for the lost
Smile for the living
Get what you need and give what you’re given
Life’s for the living so live it
Or you’re better off dead
